Your liked songs and saved playlists are mirrored into a local database — read once, then never touched again unless you ask.
Describe a strategy
“Moody late-night driving, nothing before 1990, no live versions, don’t repeat an artist.” That compiles into a concrete rule set you can read and edit.
Listen before you commit
Queues are built from the local mirror and auditioned in the browser. Regenerate as often as you like — none of it costs anything.
Save it to YouTube
One button writes a real private playlist to your account, so YouTube Music plays it anywhere — phone, desktop, or the car.
Why invite only
The YouTube Data API grants 10,000 quota units per day — and that budget belongs to the application, not to each person using it. Writing one track to a playlist costs 50 units, so a single 50-track playlist costs about 2,550. Roughly four playlists a day, for everyone combined.
That one number shaped the whole design. The library is mirrored locally, so strategies evaluate as pure functions with no API calls. The player loads a bare list of video IDs, so auditioning a queue is free. Updating a playlist inserts only what changed rather than rebuilding it. Every unit is written to a ledger, and the app refuses a write that would exceed the day's budget instead of failing halfway through one.
Open signups would exhaust that budget before lunch and break it for everyone, so access goes out by invite until the quota does.
